Ghosts, Goblins & Witches - OH NO!!!

Goblins and Jack-O-Lanterns jolly, Bid you unto All-Hallow's folly. Hither come by dark n' moon, you cannot join the fun too soon.
The annual holiday is celebrated on October 31st. It actually has its roots in the Gaelic festival of Samhain (pronounsed sew-in). Samhain is the celebration of the summers end and the beginning of the darker months of the year. The story goes that this was a time when the barrier between this world and the “other world” was reduced, allowing passage of both the good and evil spirits. It was a time to celebrate the passing of loved ones; as well as, to ward off these evil spirits. Men would wear costumes of white and paint their faces black to ward off those evil ones. Now Halloween is all about having fun, and a costume can go from anything scary to fun and whimsical. I’m not big on wearing costumes, but I definitely have the tendancy to wear a black or orange sweater and like to throw on appropriate jewelry for the season. Halloween can definitely be a fun time to wear vintage jewelry. All sorts of delightfully scary characters come to life in sparkling brooches, rings, necklaces and earrings.
